GM crops breakthrough: Pumpkin Spice Pumpkins!

News

With the pumpkin spice revolution it was only a matter of time before GM crops got in on the act.

Since its creation in 2003, the world (well America) has been consumed with making everything flavoured with pumpkin spice, even the church has started offering pumpkin spiced communion.

However, this is the first breakthrough using genetically modified crops (GM crops) to make food naturally (well sort of) taste of pumpkin spice.  And what better foodstuff to flavour than the humble pumpkin that inspired this concoction of chemicals.

Jed Thomas, lead researcher at the Institute of Research stated, “We didn’t actually have anything to do with this breakthrough – but a quick Google search showed that someone had painstakingly spliced the DNA of pumpkins with those of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves.”

Bob Suruncle, the aforementioned “someone”, is the genetic researcher and added, “It seemed rather ironic that pumpkin spice actually contained no pumpkins.  Our GM crops work has finally come to fruition (no pun intended) to correct that grievous wrong.  I can only hope that the Salty Cee will do likewise and place me first in the article above that ignoramus who knows nothing except what he read on Google.”
