Toby Mac Wins Dove Award for Most Theologically Accurate Song of the Year

Church Life

Kevin Michael McKeehan, known by virtually no one by this name, is the same guy the CCM world knows as TobyMac.

It was no surprise to him, but he acted shocked as his name was announced as the winner of the category for Most Theologically Accurate Song of the Year after quoting a portion of Psalm 23 from the King James Version of the Bible.

While there were a couple songs that were close to being nominated for mentioning “God” or similar terms for deity, Toby’s song was considered by some to be a sermon in itself, placing it in the ranks of some of the greatest biblical songs of all time, bested only by “Turn! Turn! Turn!” (To Everything There Is a Season, based on Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) by the Byrds.

In his newest radio release “I just need U”, TobyMac hints at McKeehan’s secret passion to be an evangelist in the event that the 53 year old vocalist ceases to be hip any longer.

We still do not have any word if professions of faith were made at any of Toby’s Hits Deep Tour Live concerts, but we can imagine with that much Bible being presented at 120 decibels, someone is bound to understand what he is saying. In the opinion of the Cee staff, TobyMac is a legend.
