Jesse Duplantis seeks donations for $600M space rocket

Jesse Duplantis, 68, a Christian minister and televangelist based in Destrehan, is seeking donations for a $600m rocket to take the Gospel to the known universe.

“Jesus told us in Mark 16:15 that we were to go ‘into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.’ And the Greek word for ‘world’ is κόσμος from which we get cosmos.

“If we are to take Jesus’ words seriously then we must first take off our narrow-minded earth focussed filter and get the message out to all of creation.

“This is why he says preach the gospel to every creature (κτίσις) rather than every man (ἄνθρωπος) and this is why Jesus said we would do greater things than he did (Jn 14:12) as his mission was limited to earth.

“I really believe that if Jesus was physically on the earth today, he wouldn’t be riding a donkey, he’d be in a rocket preaching the gospel all over the universe.”

Duplantis’ solicitation comes four months after another televangelist, the Newark, Texas-based Kenneth Copeland, announced he had bought a rocket to take the gospel to the moon.
