Bishop Curry mistakenly preaches from pop song instead of Bible

News

Bishop Reverend Michael Curry preached a 14 minute impassioned sermon at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last month in St George’s Chapel in Windsor. It was entitled “The Power of Love” and was the most tweeted-about moment of the day of the royal wedding, according to Twitter.

However, despite the Head of The Episcopal Church beginning with a quote from Dr Martin Luther King and then mentioning Jesus, the Bible and the love of God it became clear that his text was not actually from the Bible but from two pop songs.

It can be revealed that the title came from the 80s song “The Power of Love” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and the core of his sermon ‘all you need is love’ consisted of the lyrics from the song ‘all you need is love’ by The Beatles.

Thus like John Lennon he soon dispensed with God as you don’t need God: All you need is love. And all of you are perfectly capable of love.

Many priests and secular commentators loved his inclusive sermon which allowed not only Christian, but also atheist and agnostic to participate in this redemptive love without the need of the Cross.
